Winter romantic elope in Orvieto
Who says that winter cannot be a perfect moment for a romantic elope? Warm hearts can overcome the coldest weather.
Charmin and Michael, a lovely couple from US, chose to fly to Italy to have their civil wedding in one of the most beautiful cities of Center Italy: Orvieto in Umbria!
Orvieto, in Umbria, is located over a tuff cliff that dominates a valley of two rivers – one of these is famous Tiber River who leads eternal city of Rome. The town has a stunning view over Umbria countryside and it was chosen in the past for its particular position. It made it very easy to defend in case of attacks. The location was inhabited since prehistory, and during Etruscan and Roman ages it become very strong. During Middle age it became an independent city under the influence of the Vatican State and Florence. At this time it reached the height of its splendor. Orvieto is still a medieval town, with its narrow roads, twisted alleys and valuable monuments. The most famous place of the town is the grand piazza where famous Duomo of Orvieto arise. It is the perfect example of Italian Gothic style, that keeps art treasures such as Gentile da Fabriano’s frescoes and the mosaics of the façade.
Our couple decided to celebrate their wedding ceremony inside Teatro Mancinelli, the city theatre, inside its decorated XVIII century foyer on the noble floor, in front of the Official of the Town Hall, two witnesses and the parents of the groom only.
The wedding ceremony was simple and yet very touching, delighted by a piano player. We shared their emotions and the plain happiness they conveyed .
Right after the official part, bride and groom received congratulations and they cut a small wedding cake. They also had a lovely wedding toast with sparking Italian prosecco and took the chance to have some beautiful wedding photo in the hall, stage and audience of the theatre. Just imagine how it would be to have a theatre all for you for one day! on your wedding day, in your wonderful wedding dress!
A couple of hours after, an elegant black Mercedes car was waiting in the central piazza to take the newlyweds and parents to the restaurant for the wedding celebratory dinner, another stunning venue in the surrounding: Badia di Orvieto.
The venue is a 4 star hotel with a delicious traditional restaurant inside the ruins of an ancient abbey. Its interiors still preserves precious frescoes and mosaics and a consecrated church. The two symbols of this mystical place are the great tower and the lonely arch, still standing from the nave collapsing, that frames the city of Orvieto. Such a beautiful scenery for a wedding dinner and take some more pictures!
They had a table for four people, alone in the entire structure, and had a great dinner à la carte before coming back to their hotel right beside the Duomo of Orvieto. Pure wow!
This is exactly how an elope should be: simple, intimate and romantic. In a perfect frame like the wild and evocative Center Italy scenario.
We would like to thank Alessandro Zingone and his crew for the beautiful pictures, and to all the people that worked really hard for creating the magic.
Thanks to Charmin and Michael for their trust and their kind words. We wish you a lifetime of joy and happiness together.
